Objectives for Lesson 3
On Lesson 3, your ADI will make sure that you learn how to use observational techniques particular in low-risk situations properly. These situations include quiet residential areas and quiet rural and local roads.
Minimum Coverage for Lesson 3
The minimum coverage for Lesson 3 is for you to learn how to drive in light-traffic conditions covering the MSMM or Mirror Signal Mirror Maneuver routine. Basic scanning techniques are also covered in this lesson including –
- Turning at roundabouts
- Turning left and right
- Negotiating junctions
Expected Results for Lesson 3
By the end of the third EDT lesson, you should be able to demonstrate that you can use the mirrors properly and carry out the MSMM routine uneventfully.
It is also expected that you can carry out proper ‘safety glances’ under circumstances such as moving off, turning, at junctions and negotiating roundabouts.
Finally, you are expected to learn about the blind spots and how to deal and compensate for them.
Preparation for Lesson 4
In order to achieve the objectives of lesson 4, you should complete the lesson 1 to 3.
Practice Makes Perfect
To ensure confidence to meet the required objectives, you should also read the expected results for this lesson, practice with your ADI or sponsor or both and did relevant research to study.
In particular, you should practice the primary observation techniques especially when changing direction for a minimum of three hours.
